the emergency
Hg sent us this poetry postcard, created from one of his own photos. He writes,
The building is an abandoned World War II look-out post on a remote peninsula in the north-west of Ireland. The Irish were neutral during WWII and referred to it as “The Emergency.” I too occasionally find myself in an unofficial state of emergency, a result of the tension between my opposing desires for both rural isolation and urban community. The ambiguous tone of the words, set against the seductive starkness of the image, is entirely deliberate. I have yet to resolve this conflict.
